Help Us Become Self-Sustainable and Make a Difference in the Lives of These Amazing Children!

Peanut butter is definitely an American favorite. When you go to the supermarket you find many different brand names that sell the product. Nevertheless, peanut butter is a luxury for most families in Haiti. This is your unique chance to help the orphans of Haiti experience organic peanut butter, while you can enjoy seeing how it is made! Each jar you buy helps the children from the Future of Haiti Orphanage obtain better food and education.

We are extremely proud to be producing Manba (Haitian Creole for peanut butter) at The Future of Haiti Orphanage thanks to a donation from our UK FOHO team! Not only will this feed the children at FOHO, but it will also produce income for the orphanage. The ultimate goal of FOHO has always been to become self-sustainable, and we are well on our way to achieving this. However, supporting almost 100 children, and educating even more, has made it unavoidable to continually ask for support. There is a need for this help, and we cannot let the children down. This is why we work so hard to keep the Future of Haiti Orphanage and School running.

Due to this, we have devised a series of projects that are designed to make FOHO sustain itself, while also teaching the children of Haiti the value of work, exchange and production. At FOHO we don’t simply believe that providing food and shelter alone will do much for these children. Without a proper education and without showing them the importance of being a contributing member of the society, they are destined to grow up and enter a world in which they expect to have things simply given to them. This is why we are teaching the children new skills, not just to produce Manba, but also how to run a business.  During this process they learn how to be self-sufficient and the trade skills needed to succeed in the world. That is how we will help Haiti rebuild itself.

This is our dream – to raise educated, skilled young adults, who can then help others become self-sustainable, thus creating a new beautiful revitalized Haiti for future generations.

Here you can see the new peanut butter machine being delivered and set up:

First the peanuts must be roasted and peeled.  This will be done by hand until we can purchase both a roaster and a peeling machine.

Not only will this feed the children at FOHO, but it will also produce income for the orphanage.

In addition to that, we are teaching the children new skills, not only to produce manba, but also how to run a business.  They will learn to understand the cost of buying raw materials, the labor involved in producing the manba, and also what is involved in selling it on the market.

This is our dream – to raise educated, skilled young adults, who can then help others become self-sustainable, thus creating a new beautiful revitalized Haiti for future generations.

For only $5.00 you can purchase a tub of peanut butter to be donated to the children of Haiti.
